Carved Book Landscapes

Hello friends,

After a long time I was surfing through net and found this creative work. Amazing Idea as well as work by the artist Laramee. (Don’t miss to see images below…)

For the better part of three decades multidisciplinary artist Guy Laramee has worked as a stage writer, director, composer, a fabricator of musical instruments, a singer, sculptor, painter and writer. Among his sculptural works are two incredible series of carved book landscapes and structures entitled Biblios and The Great Wall, where the dense pages of old books are excavated to reveal serene mountains, plateaus, and ancient structures. Of these works he says:

So I carve landscapes out of books and I paint Romantic landscapes. Mountains of disused knowledge return to what they really are: mountains. They erode a bit more and they become hills. Then they flatten and become fields where apparently nothing is happening. Piles of obsolete encyclopedias return to that which does not need to say anything, that which simply IS. Fogs and clouds erase everything we know, everything we think we are.

2011 in review

Thanks to all my friends.. 🙂

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 37,000 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 14 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Tourists’ State “GOA”

Renowned for its beaches, places of worship and world heritage architecture, Goa is visited by large numbers of international and domestic tourists each year. During November – late February Goa has a overwhelming tourists response and that’s why I have given title as Tourists’ State “GOA”.

it is India’s smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population. Goa is India’s richest state with a GDP per capita two and a half times that of the country as a whole. In last September I visited it with my friends.. Started our journey in train from Ahmedabad.

Stone cities de India

Where to start from I don’t know.

I am not a writer or photographer. I am just blogger. As a blogger I want to share some of the memories of mine from Rajasthan. I had been to Rajasthan on holidays just 15 days back. It was great fun to be in the Rajasthan.

I had visited only two cities (Jodhpur & Jaisalmer). Jodhpur, the blue city and Jaisalmer, the golden city but rather I would say both as a Stone city :).

you might be thinking that why both city as Stone city.. right? See below
